Start Planning Your UK & Ireland Trip

Your Trip. Your Way. My Expertise.

The UK and Ireland are packed with incredible experiences — but knowing where to go, when to visit, where to stay, and how to get around can be overwhelming. That’s where I come in.

England is where my own passion for travel began, and I keep going back. For Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, I hold formal destination certifications — Scots Agent, Wales Pro, and Ireland Specialist — and I’ve built relationships with trusted on-the-ground partners in each country who know these places as their home. I know which castle hotel is worth the splurge, which whisky distillery gives the best private tour, and which coastal drive will take your breath away.

What’s included when you work with me:

  • A custom itinerary built entirely around your interests
  • Hand-selected hotels, B&Bs, and castle stays
  • Private guides and skip-the-line access where it matters
  • Detailed daily plans with maps, restaurant recommendations, and insider tips
  • In-country partner support throughout your trip
  • A single point of contact from first inquiry to final day of your trip

When to Visit the UK & Ireland

season
months
what to expect

Spring

April – May

Mild weather, blooming gardens, fewer crowds. Ideal for garden tours and countryside walks.

Summer

June – August

Longest days (sunlight until 10pm), warmest weather, peak season. Book early for the best availability.

Fall

September – October

Beautiful autumn colors, harvest festivals, quieter attractions. My favorite time to visit.

Winter

November – March

Christmas markets, cozy pubs, dramatic landscapes. Fewer tourists but shorter days and colder weather.

My recommendation

Late May through early October offers the best weather and longest days. September is the sweet spot — warm enough, uncrowded, and stunning fall colors beginning.

Add a short headline

Yes. US citizens need a valid passport (no visa required) for visits up to 6 months in the UK and 90 days in Ireland. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. Note: The UK now requires US citizens to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) prior to arrival. Ireland’s equivalent scheme is expected in the future — I’ll keep you updated as part of your trip planning.

I recommend booking 6-9 months in advance for peak season (June-August), especially if you want specific castle hotels or private guides. For shoulder season (April-May, September-October), 4-6 months is usually sufficient.

It depends on your itinerary. I typically recommend a combination of trains (great for city-to-city travel in England), rental cars (essential for the Scottish Highlands and rural Ireland), and private drivers (for a stress-free experience). I’ll recommend the best option for your specific route.

Absolutely — it’s one of the most popular requests I get. I’ll plan the perfect route, including flights or ferries between the two countries, so the transition is seamless.

It varies widely based on travel style, duration, and time of year. A comfortable trip runs approximately $250-400 per person per day based on double occupancy (including hotels, some meals, transportation, and activities). Trips with castle stays and private guides can run $500-800+ per day. Families with children typically see a different cost profile — accommodation is often the same regardless of party size, and many attractions offer child discounts. Contact me for a family-specific estimate.

It’s one of the best destinations for first-time international travel. English-speaking, easy to navigate, safe, and incredibly welcoming. I’ll make sure you feel confident and prepared before you go.
